The Path to Success…

Nikken is about more than innovative products – it also has a great Income Opportunity1. Income can be earned in a number of ways; selling to customers, getting new business partners on board who develop their own Nikken business, and using the Nikken Incentive programmes to maximise income potential.

We’d like to congratulate Chantal Martin, one of our Independent Nikken Consultants in France.  She has built her Nikken business over the past few months, achieving Silver rank in August and Gold in September AND won the High 5 Incentive. We asked Chantal what her favourite products are and how she built her business and achieved her rank advancements. This is her story:

“Hello, I am Chantal Martin, 68, a retired shopkeeper from Vichy, France. I became an Independent Nikken Consultant in January 2018, after a very positive experience while testing the Nikken Sleep System.

I was very pleased with how I felt after using the Sleep System and wanted to purchase one for myself, as well as try more Nikken products, so I purchased the complete Sleep System and PiMag Water Fountain. I also use the Jade GreenZymes®, KENZEN Super Ciaga®, KVB® Natural Food Mix and the TRUE elements® Marine Organic Skincare. I use these products every day – they are now my essentials!

I became very aware that I was actually responsible for my own health by choice – and not by chance. I attended workshops and discovered how I could share ways of living an active wellness lifestyle with others too.

I introduced Nikken to people who wanted an additional income, with minimal investment, and who wanted to be part of a Team. Our Team currently consists of: two Consultants – who reached Executive rank in two months and won the Power Start Incentive. Their small initial investment has now been returned to them in products. And a Consultant – who has reached Silver rank in just two months and already, has his own team of 3 people.

We are aiming to achieve the PARAGON prize by the end of December. We’ve achieved what we have so far with help and support from Marie and Jean Marie and their participation in our three business presentations.

I am now Gold rank. One of my beliefs is in helping others. Nothing we do is ever a waste of our time, we cannot help everyone, but we will be able to help someone. Nobody has ever become poor by giving. With hard work, perseverance and courage, we can get there. The only way to fail is to give up before reaching the goal. Be grateful for each difficulty you encounter – it could be the gift which will help you grow. The difference between a successful person and others is not lack of strength, nor lack of knowledge – but rather a lack of willpower.

Thank you and GO! GO!”

The ABCs of MCTs…

ABCsMCTs blog banner

No matter how much we weigh, each of us needs fat to maintain balance in our diets. Sometimes we are ingesting the wrong type of fats and too much of it. MCTs, on the other hand, are a good source of fat that may also help reverse the effects of harmful fats.

MCT stands for medium-chain triglyceride. Triglycerides are the main constituents of natural fats and oils. High concentrations in the blood are indicators of a higher risk of stroke. In contrast, medium-chain triglycerides are composed of three fatty acids attached to a glycerol backbone. MCTs are sometimes used to counter the effects of high triglycerides in the blood.

The name refers to the way carbon atoms are arranged in their chemical structure. Typically, fats found in the diet are long-chain triglycerides (LCTs) with 20 or more carbon chains.1 MCTs range from six to 12 carbon chains.2 Due to their shorter chain length, MCTs travel straight from the gut to the liver and do not require bile to break them down. LCTs require the break down first. In the liver, fats are broken down to be either used as fuel, or stored as body fat.

Since MCTs enter our cells without having to be broken down, our bodies use them as instant sources of energy that pass through the blood-brain barrier to fuel the brain cells.3 In addition, MCTs may help burn calories more effectively. In one study, the thermogenic effect of a high-calorie diet containing 40 percent fat as MCTs was compared to one containing the same level of LCTs. The thermic effect (calories wasted six hours after a meal) of the MCTs was almost twice as high as the LCTs. With MCTs, 120 calories were used, compared to 66 calories from LCTs over the six hours. A follow-up study demonstrated that MCT oil given over a six day period could increase diet-induced thermogenesis by 50 percent.

Athletes sometimes use MCTs for nutritional support during training, to increase exercise performance, for decreasing body fat and increasing lean muscle mass, and for weight loss.4 During exercise, rising lactate levels can negatively impact exercise performance. MCTs may help reduce lactate buildup when taken before exercising and may also help us use more fat instead of carbs for energy.5

MCTs could provide numerous health benefits for an Active Wellness lifestyle, but how easy are they to access and consume? Nikken has the answer thorough its KVB® Protein Meal Replacement Mix. Looking at the Vanilla and Chocolate flavours, you will see that MCTs are the second ingredients for both.

Furthermore, Nikken’s Kenzen Digestion Complex 4-20 contains twenty natural digestive enzymes that act on all four different macronutrient types: fats, protein, carbohydrates and fiber. This wider range of enzymes may help us derive more energy from the food we eat.

Get Summer ready…

Get summer ready blog banner- ENG

It’s that time of year when we start to think about getting in shape for Summer…

But how exactly do we do it?

One of the most important aspects is our food intake… As the seasons change, our eating habits change too. Say good-bye to the rich and comforting winter meals and welcome the summer seasonal produce like fruit and salads! What you put in your body, along with exercising, is crucial to a healthy lifestyle as you want to loose weight and tone up. Eating the right foods can help make you feel happier and healthier.

Did you know…

1. Super foodsare nutrient-rich and a catalyst for good health and overall wellbeing. Not only can they help optimize the natural immune system, are known to have body-healing compounds, but may also help reduce inflammation and even eliminate any harmful bacteria. What, when and how much you eat can help keep both your metabolism and energy levels steadily elevated, helping with raised energy levels throughout the day. Tap into the fat-burning power of foods like nuts, avocados, dark chocolate and New Zealand Kiwi.

2. The healthiest way to lose weight is neither crash diets nor bursts of exercise. The body likes slow changes in terms of food and exercise. For example, someone who hasn’t exercised for years shouldn’t rush into running miles a day. Not only will the struggle to do so leave you feeling disheartened and demotivated, you’re also far more likely to injure yourself and set your fitness levels back further. The same goes for people who suddenly cut out certain foods from their diets.

3. Diets that severely restrict calories or the types of food ‘allowed’ can lead you to be deficient in the nutrients and vitamins that your body needs. The Eat Well Guide2, provided by NHS England, offers an abundance of information on how to eat healthy without cutting out produce packed with essential nutrients.

Here are some tips to help you manage your weight and avoid cravings:

1. Replace your daily coffee or regular tea with herbal tea or green tea. Try the Kenzen Ten4® Matcha Green Tea Drink and help wake up your body and mind the natural way… According to a study conducted by scientists from the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences3, regular consumption of green tea could help keep your bones stronger as you age.

2. Include MCT’s in your meals (medium chain triglycerides). MCT’s are good fats which have also been shown to suppress appetite. In one 14-day study, six male volunteers were allowed unlimited access to one of three diets: a low MCT diet, a medium MCT diet and a high MCT diet. Calorie consumption was significantly lower on the high MCT diet. The researchers noted that substituting MCTs for other fats in a high-fat diet “can limit the excess energy intakes and weight gain produced by high-fat, energy-dense diets.”We’ve made it easy to access these valuable fats by making it our second ingredient in the high protein, low-carb KVB® Natural Food Mix Meal Replacement that offers only 125 calories per serving, allowing you to reap the benefits and enjoy the Nikken Active Wellness lifestyle.

1. Take care of your gut. Nikken’s Kenzen Digestion Complex 4-20 contains twenty natural digestive enzymes that act on all four different macronutrient types: fats, protein, carbohydrates and fiber. This wider range of enzymes may help you derive more energy from the food that you eat.

The healthy choices we make when it comes to food may help us manage weight, maintain focus and avoid cravings.

Winter workouts

Winter workout

Did you know that exercising in cold weather may not only help keep extra pounds at bay but it may also help combat the winter blues?

“All exercise can increase your levels of those feel-good hormones, endorphins. But because your body has to work harder in the cold, your endorphin production is boosted even more, leading to a happier state of mind.”1 explained Dr. Keven Plancher, Head of Plancher Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in New York when speaking to Women’s Health magazine. Women’s Health also points out that a workout outside—even when the air is cold—can give you some much-needed sun exposure in the dark winter months, which may boost your mood as well.2

To help you stay motivated and consistent on an Active Wellness lifestyle, here are some tips:

  1. Eat healthy carbs a couple of hours before strenuous activities to keep your body warm and energetic. This also helps prevent fatigue.
  2. Do not drink caffeinated beverages before working out, because they can cause dehydration.
  3. Drink water or beverages with electrolytes before, during and after your workout to avoid cramping and dizziness. The PiMag® Water Bottle is ideal with its built-in water filter.
  4. Set exercise/weight goals and write them down. Ask your Nikken Consultant for information about our Weight Management Plan to help you. Remember there is FREE SHIPPING on all Weight Management Packs ordered before 31st March 2018.
  5. Reward yourself periodically as you achieve your goals, but not with food, so you don’t associate pleasure only with edible treats.
  6. Wear KenkoTherm® Support Wraps to help your muscles and joints stay warm and stable.

Before undertaking any exercise you should be healthy and ensure you dress appropriately for the weather. If you have any health issues you should not exercise in really cold weather. If the temperature drops to below minus 10 Celsius it is advisable to workout indoor instead.

Stay Healthy through the Flu Season with Active Wellness

Stay Healthy blog

The cold and flu season is upon us, but is there anything we can do to help maintain good health?

As well as basic good hygiene, such as keep hands clean after using public transport or holding a railing on communal stairs, here are a few other suggestions that may help to lower you chances of infection this season:

Eat protein – We have no control over which viruses or bacteria latch onto our bodies but we can attempt to boost our immune systems so we may have a better chance of fighting off colds and flu if they do strike. Douglas Kalman, PhD, RD, director of nutrition and applied clinical trials at Miami Research Associates in Florida says, “Research shows that diets too low in protein can deplete the immune system. So I make sure to get protein-rich foods throughout the day, especially fish, eggs and yogurt.” 1

Nikken makes it easy to boost your protein intake with KVB® Natural Food Mix as it contains highly nutritional organic pea protein. One serving of KVB® contains 41% NRV (Nutrient Reference Values) of protein but only 133 calories.

Drink plenty of water – Drinking enough water may help us to flush toxins out of our bodies, the PiMag® Water Bottle not only serves as your personal water bottle to have with you wherever you go but it also has a built in filter, so you get alkaline water without sediment!

Take a supplement – Lactoferrin®; contains a complement of 60mg of vitamin C in each capsule. Vitamin C that can contribute to the normal function of the immune system, normal energy-yielding metabolism function, and the normal functioning of the nervous system.

A healthy diet and lifestyle choices may improve your health and wellbeing. For your wellbeing, Nikken provides choices in support of Active Wellness with its nutritional supplements water and sleep products. To discover more visit: http://www.nikkenwellbeing.co.uk/s/about-us/our-philosophy.html

A new year, a new you; starts with eating well and living well everyday

V2 Orange New Year New You blog

Making resolutions at the start of the year is something many of us do. Often these resolutions centre around a health goal, such as shedding extra pounds put on during the Christmas period or getting more active. Unfortunately, many of us set our expectations of ourselves too high and we fail to stick to our resolutions. However, the Nikken Everyday Organic-Based Weight Management Programme is based on three basic assertions for a healthy lifestyle: Cleanse, Balance and Energise. It’s simple and convenient making it much easier to stick to. It’s as easy as 1…2…3!

  1. Kenzen® Cleansedx is a gluten-free, 100% organic nutritional supplement, which may help contribute to the support or maintenance of normal liver function and digestion. Featuring organic Roasted Chicory Root, Milk Thistle extract, Turmeric extract, Bupleurum extract, Shisandra and Ashwaghanda. Each of these organic ingredients serves multiple purposes on its own, but together, work in synergy. Take 3 capsules, one 20 minutes before each meal (based on 3 main meals a day).
  2.  KVB® Natural Food Mix in Vanilla or Chocolate flavour are formulated with more than 80% organic ingredients, naturally sourced organic protein from organic pea, organic rice and organic chlorella. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian or just health-conscious, KVB® helps you put plant protein into your diet. To create a nourishing breakfast, snack or lunch, use KVB® Natural Food Mix as a base and add PiMag® water, non-fat milk, almond milk or coconut milk. For a delicious variation add your choice of fruit or vegetables and then blend until smooth.
  3. Kenzen Ten4® Matcha Green Tea Drink contains 80 mg per serving of natural caffeine from organic matcha green tea. The natural caffeine in organic matcha green tea binds to the naturally occurring phytonutrients to help slow down the absorption of the stimulant, giving it a slow release effect. 6 Health Trends for 2018

Health Trends blog

As we approach the end of 2017, it is the perfect time to assess some of the up-coming health trends for 2018.

  1. Less sugar consumption. A recent survey found that 12% fewer adults and 19% fewer children have a sugary beverage like soda or juice on any given day compared to data from 2003.1 Nikken uses stevia as a natural sweetener in KVB®Natural Food Mix and in Kenzen Ten4® Matcha Green Tea Drink; as this herb does not contain any calories but has a naturally very sweet taste. Find out more information about stevia in our blog ‘Swapping Sugar for Stevia is a sweet choice’.
  2. Matcha Tea. The powdered tea dates back to the 10th century, when Zen Buddhists thought that the tea brought them a sense of clarity, energy and a feeling of wellbeing. Kenzen Ten4®Matcha Green Tea Drink is made with the highest quality of organic matcha tea leaves; launched in 2014 ahead of the trend.  Kenzen Ten4® is made with USDA certified organic ingredients, contains no added sugar and is only 8 calories per serving (4 calories per 100ml). Matcha Green Tea is known as “nature’s own energy drink” while New Zealand Kiwi also included in this drink, is known to be one of the most nutrient-dense of the super-fruits.
  3. Increase in water intake. People are learning to drink more water to stay hydrated throughout the day. Dehydration may cause dizziness and headaches. To help increase water consumption, you can stir in lemon, orange or add Ciaga®ᵛ for a flavour boost, and try to drink a whole glass of water at each meal. For fresh filtered water at home, try PiMag Waterfall® Gravity Water System.
  4. Flexitarian diet. 2 The focus is on incorporating more plant-based food into the diet without completely forgoing meat. Gradually replace some meat and seafood with vegetable proteins. With KVB®Natural Food Mix and the Everyday Weight Management programme, it’s easy to focus on a plant-based diet that includes some lean meat.
  5. Temperature regulating fabric. Nikken incorporates ceramic-reflective fibers in our sleep products and support wraps to help release heat and maintain a comfortable temperature.
  6. “Smart” beds and pillows to help you sleep better. The Kenko Sleep system offers improved support for the musculoskeletal system, improved temperature control and additional enhancements in comfort that may contribute to quality sleep.
